Город на юго-востоке штата Вирджиния, у слияния рек Джеймс [James River] и Аппоматтокс [Appomattox River]. 22,3 тыс. жителей (2000). Порт для судов типа "река-море". Химическая, текстильная промышленность. Производство синтетического корда для шин. Центр сельскохозяйственного района (табак, овощи). Основан в 1613 как Сити-Пойнт [City Point], в 1923 поглощен городом Хоупуэлл. Во время Гражданской войны [Civil War] - центр снабжения армии генерала У. Гранта [Grant, Ulysses S.] в ходе осады Питерсберга 21 июня 1864 - 2 апреля 1865. Плантация Аппоматокс [Appomattox Manor Plantation] входит в состав Национального поля сражения за Питерсберг [Petersburg National Battlefield]. Особняк Уэстон [Weston Manor] (1735) служил штабом генерала Филипа Шеридана [Sheridan, Philip Henry]. На национальном кладбище Сити-Поинт [City Point National Cemetery] похоронены несколько тысяч воинов с обеих сторон. Раскопки хоупвеллской культуры [Hopewell Culture], археологический музей фонда "Флауэрдрю Хандрид" [Flowerdrew Hundred Foundation Museum]. Церковь "Надежда купца" [Merchants Hope Church] (1657) - старейшая протестантская церковь в Америке.
